4 Basic Elements To Any Successful Home Based Business

Have you tried all kinds of home businesses, work from home opportunities, or even traditional small businesses with little or no real results? Do you want to be successful, achieve financial freedom and see your dreams come true? Do you think there is a secret to wealth that the rich are keeping from you? Many millions of people have lost all hope in their dreams because they just don’t seem to get that lucky. Have you ever asked yourself why it doesn’t work for me?

I was like that too. Everything I tried I failed – or so it seemed! I became a frustrated, angry person and no one wants that kind of negative energy around. The biggest problem was that I couldn’t see it myself. I kept blaming everything else, including God, for my circumstances. Until a girl I knew put a personal development book in front of me and said, “Here, read this.” This book was the starting point for a significant transformation of myself.

Over the next few months, I began devouring self-help and personal development books. I spent a lot of money on books and seminars (called investment spending) and it was so worth it! Every step I took opened new doors, providing me with mental, physical, emotional and spiritual growth. As I grew personally, so did my success in business and life. I discovered it on this trip. Right now I’m in the process of being the best me and it feels great!

In this article, I will describe 4 basic elements – starting points – that will help you on your way to success.

Number one: Success starts with taking personal responsibility for your decisions. Wow! Slow down here! Think about it. We make a million decisions every day – from clothes, to food, to work, to where we go, to…you get the point. Albert Einstein said, “The major problems we face cannot be solved by the same mindset that created them.” That’s strong. How do you change your thinking? Well, you can start by reading the books in the self-help section of the bookstore or library! I recommend the book “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” by Joseph Murphy.

Second: Believe in your dream! What did you want to be when you were a kid with a whole world of possibilities before you – before anyone imposed their limiting beliefs on you? Believe that you can achieve whatever you dream of, regardless of your circumstances! To believe in your dream, you have to believe in yourself. This is huge, and there are books dedicated to just this topic. You deserve to believe in yourself! Giving up on you is the biggest sin in the world. The greatest joy in the world is feeling fulfilled and fulfilling what you were created and meant to fulfill. Consider for a moment how complicated the system of your body, mind, and emotions is. You are a wonderful creature! An intelligence far beyond our current comprehension created you. You have a goal – a destiny! The great game of life is discovering that purpose and taking creative, enjoyable actions to bring that purpose to life. If you can overcome this hurdle – believing in yourself and your dreams, then you’re almost there!

Number three: Back yourself up with evidence. There are literally millions of examples of success everywhere. Oprah, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Lance Armstrong, Martin Luther King. The list goes on and on. Movies are a great medium for inspiration – Cinderella, Seacrackers, yes, even Lord of the Rings! Stories of tragedy and triumph, of real people and fictional characters who, without exception, persevere and triumph in the face of defeat. One of my favorite examples of success – when everyone said it wasn’t possible – is when Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile on May 6, 1954. According to Wikipedia: “Once thought to be impossible, it has now been achieved by many male athletes and is now the standard for all professional middle distance runners. Over the past 50 years, the 4-minute limit has dropped by nearly 17 seconds.”

Is someone telling you that your dreams can’t come true? How badly do you want your dream? Your library will have biographies of successful people. Another source of proof is discovering and celebrating your own successes. We call it “celebrating your wins”. Every night, write down in a “success journal” 5 ways you were successful today. It can be as simple as “I flossed today.” You see, you are successful! After celebrating your victories for a week, you will have your own proof of the feeling of success! What a great way to get inspired!

Fourth: Take one step at a time. There’s an old Christmas carol in the movie “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” The lyrics go, “Put one foot in front of the other and you’ll soon be crossing the floor…put one foot in front of the other and you’ll soon be out the door”. Very few people experience overnight success. “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” Give yourself time and take small steps every day. In the story of the competition between the tortoise and the hare, the tortoise won step by step with consistent, persistent and committed action.

No one hides the secret of success. There is no such thing as a “lucky break”. These four elements are fundamental. There is not a single successful person who has not mastered all four elements. Without them, you will continue to fail. But you’re not a failure until you stop trying. My ski coach told me, “If you’re not falling, you’re not trying hard enough.” If you don’t like to “crash”, then enjoy what you are doing now, you will probably do it forever!

Finally, go to bookstores, libraries, seminars, even movie rental places (choose inspiring movies), go out, meet people you admire and ask questions, get a journal (a book with blank pages ) and write down your dreams. Take personal responsibility for your decisions, believe in yourself and your dreams, back yourself up with evidence, and take one step at a time. Before you know it, you’ll be out the door to the “promised land” of your own success. Enjoy!
