PART II: How to Rise Above The Pandemic

Especially in this pandemic, it is vital that we learn to live in the present instead of imagining an endless future. A positive attitude is the key to coping, especially during times of adversity. At such times it seems impossible to believe that one’s peace, tranquility and hope can really be preserved or restored in such uncertain times. Yet it is possible and necessary to live in today’s world, reduce worries and find new ways to deal with the effects of Covid-19 and the isolation that comes with it.

If we want to continue to recover and experience good mind-body-spiritual well-being, we need to use all of our resources—not just some. Faith-faith and prayer can be very helpful in combating rampant worry, fear, and anxiety. Such negativity is the real enemy, too often interfering with our physical health and well-being. They serve to greatly affect our mind-body-spirit connection, reducing our immunity and mood. In the context of holistic well-being and general mind-body healing, the combination of hopeful faith and uplifting beliefs goes a long way toward eliminating fear, anxiety, depression, and despair. These positive qualities allow us to face every situation in a new and improved way so that we can become our best selves no matter what situation we face. When we are worried and hopeless, it is also far-reaching, overwhelming us, and quickly spreads to others, with a high level of infection, which can be compared to the coronavirus.

To effectively banish worry, fear, and negativity, we must find a way to experience the highest possible level of calm and inner peace. Our mental-physical-spiritual health may very well depend on it. The close connection between body, mind and spirit is real. We must choose to embrace positivity – even in this time of great adversity, especially. It’s a decision we alone have to make every day. While counseling may be helpful for some who need practical help as they deal with fear, depression and anxiety during the pandemic, others may choose to pray to God and ask for His help. However, some people combine prayer and counseling for best results. It just depends on how you choose to cope and what you do to find peace and calm in these turbulent times.

Fearless Faith

Judeo-Christian teaching says that God is a loving, compassionate God who works tirelessly to provide practical help in the form of comfort, protection, healing, and guidance. He generously blesses all of us daily by His grace, meeting all our needs. It takes fearless faith to believe that God’s help is on the way—even if it’s just an attitude change. The Scriptures reveal that God only wants the best for us and draws us ever closer to Him, especially in times of adversity when we need His help the most. Many people around the world believe that God will provide a way for us to overcome this epidemic and all circumstances and lead us to a future full of hope.

Reducing negativity

An individual’s faith and practices, such as prayer, are very important, can be uplifting, and can be central to a person’s gaining a positive perspective. It can alleviate all the negativity we face within ourselves. Life’s challenges like this pandemic can make you bitter or make you better. Faith is obviously a personal choice that we all have to make on a daily basis, despite having to endure difficult and challenging situations. Growing in faith—especially “fearless faith”—allows us to put aside all negativity and face the future with renewed confidence and anticipation of the good things ahead. Faith can give us hope and help us stay positive even when all seems lost or we are tired and completely overwhelmed.

Although we long for the day when we can be outside and spend time together, personally, with friends and family without the isolation due to the pandemic, it is important to try to stay in the here and now. It’s uplifting to think that nothing in this life lasts forever, it’s all temporary, and surely relief is on the way. Hopefully, within a few months, a safe vaccine will be developed to prove this to be true. Then we as a nation—as a world—will likely emerge from the struggle strengthened, grateful for our freedom and our loved ones, and ready to return to life as we know it.
