Religious Stew – PC Poison in the Pot
When Jesus asked the crowd of people who felt justified by their religion what they would find at His second coming, He said, “But when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8) No one in the crowd answered him, because the answer is understandable. The answer is of course; no! So what replaces faith that can precede faith in the gospel. The answer is unlikely and strange; it is religion itself.
Religion, when centered on the finished work of Christ, is a good supplement to the expression and renewal of faith, but it often becomes a substitute rather than a supplement. In apostasy, this substitution is accelerated by ecumenism, syncretism, and liberalism. The need to bring all religions under one roof is most often expressed in a tendency towards ecumenism. The catalyst for ecumenism is syncretism, which is the forced alignment of different doctrines and beliefs so that one size fits all. Syncretism cannot be realized without liberalism. A loose attitude that says that one religion or belief is as good as any other. The key to liberalism is to open the kitchen cupboard and throw everything into the pot.
It is good to note that while the secular worldview of strict evangelicals, fundamentalists, and all sects that adhere strictly to the gospel is that they are intolerant and perhaps even militant, Christ does not see it that way. For him, they are the blessed followers of the earth, in fact the “salt of the earth”. Unfortunately, in today’s PC environment, some of the salt of tolerance and diversity is losing its flavor. (Matthew 5:13)
Apostasy is not only a promise and a prophesied guarantee in the Bible, but one of the specific elements that help usher in or bring about the second coming of Christ. (2Th 2:3) The “New World Order” is based on the triple idea that there must be one world government, one world economy and one world religion. The best way to stop the bickering and infighting of different religions is to throw them all into one pot and say they are one substance. Are they all made of the same material? Not for your life!
Did Buddha die for the sins of the world? Did Muhammad rise from the dead? Will Oprah destroy Israel’s enemies in the battle of Armageddon? Will the God-given city built on the New Earth, 1,500 miles high, be built by the Army Corp of Engineers? No, not all religions are the same, and no comparative religion course can honestly explain the above, even if it’s a 202 or higher.
The liberalism of Christianity bears almost the same ear note as political or secular progressive liberalism. Keep an eye on the economy, the image of our country in the world, don’t tax the citizens too much, and many other things are of little importance. Hollywood can throw it at us and our children, lawmakers can support whatever agenda they like, and academics can teach our children whatever they want. As long as we don’t commit serious crimes, we can do anything we set our minds to with relative impunity. This is the secular worldview, and the view of the liberal church is only slightly behind it.
When liberalism hits the church, the basic tenants of faith are the first to suffer. First of all, they attack adherence to strict biblical doctrines and the preaching of the Gospel. In the end, churches can still go on as usual, but you can take a kind of 12-step approach to God and he can be “whatever you see.” I actually heard someone say that God can be a light bulb for you and it doesn’t matter. Unfortunately, he makes God a lie and, if possible, a fool. Isn’t it foolish of God to let his only begotten son die for the sins of the world when they can be redeemed in countless ways? What a waste.
Not everyone in the Christian church is upset when the New World Order enters the waltz. Some churches and believers remain faithful to the simple gospel of salvation to the end. As with any good army, someone at the front “holds the line”. They take the fire and many make the ultimate sacrifice when necessary. Will it be needed?
According to the prophet Daniel and the Book of Revelation, believers will certainly experience a direct attack from the coming world dictator, whom we know today only as the Antichrist. It is not so well known that he first casts down the ecumenical and liberal churches and then goes after the remaining believers. He (antichrist) will have no mercy on any religion, the Muslim, Judaic and Hindu religions will not escape either.
It will be a life-and-death struggle that for a while will seem completely hopeless. This hope will suddenly return to the church at the end of the antichrist’s reign, because Christ himself will intervene. No wonder the apostle Paul referred to this change as a “blessed hope” in Titus 2:13. At the end of the antichrist’s reign, the hope of all true Christians will be vision, they will see their Lord subdue the earth and remove the governments of the planet from the hands of men.
The deceiver of the bow (Satan) is also the bow diverter. He can lead the apostate church (some of them) with such wonderful-seeming causes and missions as global warming, social causes, and loads of such tripe. Those who know the scriptures are well aware that global warming has nothing to do with the coming judgments and it will not be as the will kneel down. It is the propensity for both personal and collective guilt that heats up much faster than our temperature rises. Syrupy and general social issues will be as successful as the peace movement. Peace? There have been more wars in the last 100 years than all the rest of history combined, and there is no end in sight.
Churches that have not succumbed to the prosperity gospel or the emerging church doctrine, Dominionism, Oprahism, New Age, and half a dozen other hair-brained last-day schemes are often taken over by something much easier to swallow. The social gospel is full of PC appeal reasons that no one dares argue against, they are a balm for the conscience called “replacement behavior”. In short, it means doing good things to offset bad living and total rebellion against God. Concern cannot divert condemnation; the wages of sin is still death Ro. 6:23. The death of the soul is never very social, and the jingle of change in the offering plate is no substitute for a change in our lifestyle.
This is not an angry speech, but a desperate speech. God desperately loves mankind, and He has offered abundant proof of this. He would rather not have apostatized and the message will not change until the last star falls. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16.
Sometimes it is not enough to know that God loved the world so much, but to be reminded that God loves you. It is a personal matter for every man or woman. In 1948, the legendary songwriter, the late Hovie Lister, who started one of Southern Gospel’s most beloved groups, “The Statesmen,” said it best in the last two verses of his famous song, “How long has it Been.”
How long has it been since you talked to the Lord?
And have you told Him the hidden secrets of your heart?
Since you prayed, since you stayed
Kneeling until the light shone through?
How long has it been since you woke up at dawn
And did you feel that the days were worth living?
Can you call me your boyfriend since when?
How long did you know he cared about you?
